Oil and Natural Gas Marketing Breakfast Series (Part 1 of 2): Late to the Party - Can Canada's LNG Industry Catch Up?

January 1, 2017

As of October, 2016, the National Energy Board has received 42 applications to export or import Liquefied Natural Gas (“LNG”), 32 of which have been approved.  Only one project, however, has announced its firm intention to start construction of an export facility in 2017.  Meanwhile, global expansion of the LNG industry continues with 18+ Bcf/day of new liquefaction projects already under construction around the world, representing a 45% increase in nominal supply capacity.  LNG prices have already slumped 37% from 2014 to 2015, due to a combination of lower oil prices and increased supply.  Is the Canadian LNG industry too late to the party?

Covered in this presentation:

 - Overview of the Global LNG marketplace
 - Overview of Canadian LNG export applications
 - Wood Fibre’s LNG Project|
 - What is holding up progress for the Canadian LNG industry?
 - Can Canada catch up?
