The presentation focuses on corrosion and the potential problems caused by corrosion. It provides a basic but thorough review of causes of corrosion and the methods by which it can be identified, monitored, and controlled. A brief introduction to NACE International, as well as the NACE Calgary Section will also be provided.
Laura holds a B.Sc. in Materials Engineering from the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. Her past experience includes working in the steel industry, as well as working at a specialized corrosion consulting engineering company, where she established a solid professional career in a variety of both technical and organizational roles. Currently, Laura is working for Lloyd's Register Energy America’s as a Corrosion Engineer and provides corrosion consulting and evaluation services for upstream, mining, downstream refining and upgrader units to the Asset Integrity Services department.
She is also a dedicated member of NACE International and has served at the local and national level in a number of technical and organizational areas. She was selected to attend the 2016 NACE Leadership Training Program and is currently the Chair for the NACE Calgary Section.
