Shantanu has completed his third year of Chemical Engineering at the University of Calgary and in currently on internship with Shell Canada in the capacity of Production Engineering Intern. Through his years of university, Shantanu has developed a keen appreciation for the knowledge learned in the classroom, however he always felt the need to connect that knowledge to an application, that’s where his involvement in the U of C’s various clubs came in. Having held numerous leadership positions such as on the Chemical and Oil & Gas Engineering Students’ Society and Alberta Student Energy Conference, Shantanu has been able to explore the many facets where his degree could be utilized, now he hopes to share his learnings with other undergrad students as well as helping them make that “connection.” This year holding the position of Internship Representative on PES, Shantanu is looking forward to connect students to the broader industry and provide them with meaningful professional development opportunities such as lunch and learns which gives students direct access to industry professionals, as well as exposing them to the cutting edge innovations that are currently being developed. Shantanu is excited to see what his involvement with PES this year will bring. In his free time he enjoys playing soccer, mountain biking, hiking and skiing in the winter months.
