Yasir is a graduate student in the Reservoir Characterization MEng program and is currently doing a one year term with Imperial Oil as a Reservoir Engineer. As Director of Technical Development, Yasir hopes to create change and “Bridge the Gaps” between university course work and the industry. Yasir has practiced engineering in the industry for a few years before coming back to complete his master’s degree and plans to leverage his experience to design hands-on workshops that would mimic real life work as well as organize multiple talks and courses that would give students some insights about working in the industry.
Apart from PES, Yasir has taken a keen interest in volunteering and being active on campus and the larger community. Yasir is also an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) North America section and is currently serving as an ambassador lecturer with the group. He has also helped organize and bring together multiple SPE distinguished lecture series.
Outside of university, Yasir enjoys the outdoor activities like hiking, camping, snowboarding and is an avid super-sport motorcyclist.
