Shakeel Shakeel
Shakeel is pursuing a master’s in chemical and petroleum engineering with a minor in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Calgary. Before returning to academia, he spent 18 months working in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, where he was deeply involved in field operations such as hydraulic fracturing, flow back, swabbing, and abandonments. His passion for the energy industry and desire to enhance his expertise motivated him to return to school. Shakeel has been actively involved with SPE since his undergraduate years, during which he served as the general secretary of his local SPE chapter. Under his leadership, the chapter was awarded the prestigious Gold Standard Chapter award from SPE International. At the Petroleum & Energy Society (PES), Shakeel has taken up the Director of Professional Development role, where he participates in weekly meetings, facilitates programs like lunch and learn sessions, provides guidance to fellow students, and coordinates industrial tours. His commitment to the energy sector is evident in his continuous pursuit of knowledge and leadership. He strives to ensure that PES equips students with the essential skills and connections to thrive in the evolving energy industry.
